A Wedding

Weddings.

They seem to be the thing that someone either thinks they can do 10 minutes after touching a camera, or say they will never-ever-ever-in-a-million-years do.  I am was in the latter category.  The very idea still terrifies me.

Last year I did a set of engagement pictures for this young couple, and I had the privilege of photographing their wedding and reception this year.  I am really at a loss to explain what it meant to me to be a small part of their wedding day.  Not only did I get to see a wedding from an entirely different perspective.  I got to be around some good people. Ben and Klare are great, their families are fun to be around, and -- well, let me remind you again I am at a loss for words.  Real wedding photographers have a thousand fun things to say here, but I'm still dumbstruck.

The event was split over two days, with the ceremony roughly a week before the reception-celebration.  The ceremony was outdoors with stormy skies, and I admit I was looking forward to some dramatic group pictures outside.  However, the heavens opened up and the rain nixed that idea.

The pictures in this post are some of the portraits across both days, and one from the ceremony.  Obviously, I did more than portraits-- but those are my favorite types of pictures-- so that is what I am showing.

Ben, Klare -- thank you for letting me be part of your day.  I hope you have many, many more together.

The getaway.  Makes me want to photograph a motor-race again!
