Expressions

Carly hates probably 90% of the pictures I have made of her.  I needed to find out why, and fix it.  After looking through a number of pictures I am pretty sure it is because she looks like she is anticipating that the picture will look bad.  I think everyone probably feels that way, but I have been able to distract them from that thought.  It could be others just trust me with my camera more.

Last night, I finally figured out how to distract Carly enough to get a natural expression.  I know this isn't a "nice" portrait with perfect light, perfect clothes, perfect hair, perfect make up etc.  It isn't meant to be.  I was just trying to get some natural reactions.  We can work on bringing those other elements together later, the important thing to me was figuring out how to get a good expression, the rest is "easy".

[ setup large softbox camera left, feathered away from subject.  Reflector subject right.  Intended to be shot around f/4 -- I think it ended up f/5 ]
